The John Lewis Gift List is not only God’s gift to all those that are getting married, or setting up a house – it is also just great way to spend an afternoon.
Zapping things you’d like in one of the UK’s biggest superstores… what’s not to like? Plus, you get whatever you’d like because it’s your big day… heaven meets earth…
We opted for the John Lewis Gift List not only because I live near a John Lewis store, but also because it looks the most professional, has the greatest range in terms of their products and also gives you the peace of mind that everything is sorted. They also made a rather wise decision that we didn’t know was possible – which, in my eyes, is even kinder.
We had our glorious afternoon zapping what we liked, and enjoying the luxury of a free tea or coffee and then deciding which of the wonderfully high end duvet covers we would love to own, but quite honestly would never be able to buy. We pottered around the kitchen bit – being very much lapped up in all the wonderful Emma Bridgewater products, and having lustful feelings towards the matching and fitting-into-themselves Tupperware section and finally coming to an agreement on which egg timer to get. As you can imagine, there are fewer more fun afternoons…
John Lewis have an ability to make you feel like the only people in the world, and also the most special people in the world. From the Gift List sign up page, to the signing off of all of our presents, we couldn’t have been more pleased.
Having spent the afternoon in heaven, you then get the option to change and edit your order – maybe you got the wrong colour pillow case, or actually zapped 300 pegs (we didn’t notice until John Lewis told us…) this is another dilemma in itself – do you really need that many cups and saucers? The advice is to just add it to the list and then edit it later. So we did.
Once the big day had gone, we got a call from John Lewis letting us know how many boxes they needed to deliver, and where would we like them to deliver them. They delivered them in 4 different days, for us. Mainly because you get the ones that are bought straight away (by your organised friends) and the ones that are a bit later, and they create the boxes as they are bought. This didn’t bother us at all.
Following all of their deliveries – they ring you to check that you’re OK with all that you’ve ordered, if anything has broken yet, and if you need any final help. This is also when they give you the tokens that people may have bought for you. If they didn’t like, or couldn’t see something they would have like to have got you.
We had quite a few tokens, and they offered to keep them to one side at a store so we could go and spend our lovely pennies. On arriving to the store, we were greeted by a very friendly man and given our vouchers. This was easy sorted when we found what we want to get, and away we went.
The team at John Lewis could not have been more kind, more welcoming, and more allowing when things went wrong.
They also, as mentioned before, advised us to change our 300 wooden pegs to vouchers… so we actually only have 50 wooden pegs, no need to panic!
Thank you John Lewis… I would use you again, but hopefully we won’t need to! Only one Gift List use for me…hopefully!
