persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
“medicine is a field which requires dedication and perseverance”
If at first, you don’t succeed, try try try again.
I am all for that quote – don’t get me wrong – when you get knocked down it knocks the wind out of you, it takes you a while to get back up again and get going. But it also gives you the ‘umph’ to do something, to make something of the situation.
I have failed an exam 3 times, 3 times – in a row – I have been told that I am not good enough, for varying and ranging reasons and it sets you back.
But I am not going to be put down from it. I refuse to partner with the idea that I am not good enough. I have a great horse, which is alive, and I am alive – 25 years on, my mind body and soul must be doing something right…
It is hard, it is soul destroying, it’s embarrassing and it feels like a waste of time.
But you know who benefits from perseverance?
You. Your future self, your tomorrow self, your children, your relationships, and your mind boyd and soul.
Don’t give up on yourself, but also don’t loose your peace – if it costs you that, it is too expensive.
Work hard, play hard – work hard, but also have ‘me’ time.
You are the centre of this…
