Looking for more blogs to follow, I came across Heather Wallace of Bridle & Bone and saw that she had just released her ‘Blog Hop’ hot off the press and I cannot be more excited to be involved in the first ever one.
The theme is ‘Why do you Blog’.
Now then, I can remember fondly the day I wanted to start writing. I was reading a book about what people used to write home about in the wars, or in the olden times before mobile telephones and emails.
I remember wishing that maybe we could all go back to pen-pal times, or writing love letters. How romantic the whole setting was.
I’ve never been much of a diary writer – they only ever consisted of the ridiculous ‘I love X’, ‘I hate X’ claims, and quite frankly made for poor reading later in life. Needless to say, that was quickly ditched.
Blogging though, this was basically just online diary writing surely, I love the idea of letters, or re reading previous ramblings, and I get a thrill out of typing. This surely couldn’t be a bad option.
But you can’t just blog, you need to have a theme for what you’re writing – like a book has a plot, or an invitation has an event, or a letter has a point. I concluded, after daydreaming my hacks away, that horses would be the theme of my blog. Horses, animals, the countryside, my discoveries and generally what I would write home about.
Mobiles have enabled friends to stay connected, and the inability to get away from it all – but blogging is new, and fresh in my life. I have had this page for over 4 years, but I haven’t always enjoyed writing like I do now.
I find myself getting lost in the romantic atmosphere of writing, writing to my best friend whom will read with love – and take home my words. I enjoy writing knowing that I will re read and re experience my memories. I enjoy writing as it helps me see how far I have come, and how much one’s approach on life changes week in, week out.
I have learnt that things move on, people change, things are better processed and quite honestly – my mind is a complete whirlwind most of the time. I have got over my fear of jumping, I have got married, I have changed horse, I have been blown away by Chris Bartle and I have discovered what beats the morning coffee…
I so adore What I Would Write Home About, and I hope you may find something sufficiently entertaining or motivating here within.
