John Lewis Onion Holder
Now, I am as quick as anyone to admit that I had no idea what I was doing in the kitchen when I embarked on marriage – sure I can make a tasty hot chocolate, or scrambled eggs, but really, anything else and you’re pushing it.
For example, I managed to win a cooking competition at school when I hadn’t even cooked the lasagne… I kid you not.
So when I was faced with cutting up the onions to make a delicious dish for my husband, I was met by a small difficulty – how on earth does one keep all of the onion slices together to then cross hatch them?
I had been struggling along with what could only not be described as finely chopping onions, when I discovered, whilst unpacking our John Lewis Gift List delivery, that my unmarried self had decided to be kind of my now-married self, and had scanned the god given gift of the Onion Holder.
Yes, it holds your onions, and when you are like me… who could only, with the help of an Onion Holder, now make it to becoming a sous-chef – you are surprising reliant on the flaming thing.
It comes with a clean and clever wooden section that you hold onto and then maybe 10 ‘sticks’ dropping down from the wood which spike into your onion, and then you slice between the ‘sticks’, and the cross hatch whilst it is still in the holder.
The literal dream. No word of a lie…
Also, my hands don’t smell of onion… looks like everyone is winning.
