Last weekend was the reunion of the Smithy no.2 and other good pals.
It was long over due, and quite frankly delightful.
We all headed to the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa on the Friday evening – all having been swallowed up, chewed and then spat back out by the end of Half Term traffic – and settled down with G&Ts or wine and started to catch up with what the end of 2015 to the middle of 2016 had thrown at everyone.
And boy did we have a lot to chat about.
A few have constant, dreamy jobs, some have been on ski seasons, and others have had fun relationship changes – but despite a lot of activities between now and graduation (the last time we all saw each other) it was like we had never been apart.
We were straight back into putting the world to rights and to say it was relaxing is an understatement!
Everyone was on such good form, and it was better than I had ever expected.
Saturday was mainly spent in the swimming pool or tackling the rather muggy weather, with a mixture of manicures and massages – man, they were good!
Sunday, although being one man down, she’s extremely dedicated and headed off for a 4am start for a Show Jumping show, was spent with walking and a good, solid breakfast, and then away by 10.30am – as we all had places to be. No rest for the wicked.
It is a complete blessing to have something that makes saying goodbye and separating again so difficult – I am excited for the next meet up again. THANK YOU chickas.
Literally such a relaxing weekend – as expected at a Spa especially with the six I bathed, and ate six courses for breakfast, with.
Until next time, I can’t wait for the next batch of stories.
