I hate to admit it because it confirms all of my mother’s views and perceptions of me, but I am dependant on my phone. My beautiful iPhone 6, to be precise.
I have my calendar, my camera, my phone book, my entire life on that thing – and I would be lost without it. Don’t get me wrong, I can live without it – I give myself targets every now and again to not go on it for a weekend or something, when I am at home or with friends – Instagram is more interesting when you have over 24 hours of posts to catch up on!!
And I can manage. I enjoy it actually. It makes me more relaxed and more aware of what is going on around me, and actually quite a bit less mentally busy… Which apparently makes me a nicer person to be around!
Any ways, aside from being guilty of being addicted to it… I actually have removed two apps that make me even more screen tapping happy… SnapChat and Facebook (I kept Messenger ’cause I actually need to communicate with people)- neither I really needed… But both I was obsessed with. Checking every few minutes incase a new story arrived and it became rather negative and I started to be become doubtful of my own decisions because they were the same story all the time etc… You know – all of that emotional stuff that girls do at times. So I gave my phone a cleanse and kept Instagram – because a girl has gotta be able to lust about log cabins and Starbucks dates somehow up here in Scotland!!
I will now stop rambling. Apologies.
I have 5 apps that make my world go around rather nicely – that keep me a happy bunny!
1. Sleep Cycle
You may know about this app – but it is the only alarm that actually wakes me up without wanting to punch the first person I see. I am a morning person but I also love sleeping and dreaming. My imagination runs wild whilst I am asleep and I don’t like dreams to end mid dream – it ruins the flow of a good day.. I am sure you know what I mean…
So back to the app – I think that it is £1.99… But that is a few pennies well spent. So the app monitors when you sleep and wakes you up when you’re in a light sleep, closet to when you want to be up with the alarm. So say you put your alarm for 7.30am, then it will wake you up between 7 and 7.30 (you can set it for 15 mins rather than 30 mins), and will then allow you to snooze it up to the time that you have set your alarm for and then doesn’t turn off without you actually having to unlock your phone and turn it off manually.
The dream (pun intended!)
I have been using it for over 3 years now… Another feature that I love about it is that it will tell you how well you slept that night – with a percentage and then you can add notes too so like ‘had coffee before bed’ or ‘ feeling moody’ and then you can see if you slept better when you were moody or had the pizza with extra cheese or whatever. It is so clever.
So I don’t know if this is new or not, but it is amazing. Basically when you go onto the app, it sends you text sized amount of the latest news – in all of the world and then you can click on either option, to see more or to see something else, as shown in the photo (the right hand photo in the collage – on the top row).
Perfect for the kind of person that likes to know what’s going on but CBA sifting through some rubbish that I don’t care about… Or because I am lazy – either or is probably true.
Get it if you want bite size news at your finger tips.
Languages are a hobby of mine – I say that like I know a few – I like to dabble but I love to speak French mainly. So this, free, app is fantabulous.
You can choose a range of different languages and it then tests your ability of the language and then sets you tasks from what it has decided… And they’re good.
Each level that you pass you get ‘XP’ and you want to get as many as possible – if you’re a competitive person. Definitely worth a peruse if you’re interested in new languages or rekindling an old frame with an old school lesson!
You never know when you may be invited on the trip of a life time and you can never be over prepared…
I am British and this one is quite good at getting it right to the minute. With being outside all day, it is nice to know when to do each bit of work – whether it would be in the morning or the afternoon – there is nothing quite like getting confronted with a lot of water coming out the sky when you’re onboard a horse and literally wetting one’s pants… I need preparing for that kind of day!
The app I use is the one that comes with iPhones naturally – but I am sure there are a good amount out there for those who haven’t entered the iPhone world yet (silly beans!)
I don’t really have much to say here but I love Instagram. Like the kind of love that should be for a boyfriend or girlfriend – thoughts before you go to sleep, and when you wake. Instagram is my love. Sorry not sorry humans.
Obviously Insta has made me become the world’s best photographer and why I am not being paid millions for my labours I will never know… But such is life.
My favourite thing about instaaaaa is the ‘Following’ section… Because I am hands up plain nosey. Also this helps you to discover new favourites or even old friends who you haven’t communicated with in a while… See everyone is a winner on Instagram…
If you haven’t got it yet… Then get yo arse in gear maaaaan…
