The Lenten Challenge
Lent has always been the time when you stop doing something bad, like swearing, or smoking or shouting or drinking. Is it me or does every month seem to have a stopping theme? Like Stoptober or Dry January…
Lent 2016, or 18 days of Lent 2016, for me this year is about #choosingtolovemyself, it is all about not saying anything horrible to oneself and reaching for admiration of yourself as well as that of others.
I am quick to put myself down, or condone myself for a talent or ability – to be the person that someone wants me to be, or whoever would work better at the situation – rather than being who I am. Deep for a Thursday eh!
It’s going to be hard, already today I have thought – make a better effort, why can’t you just get it right first time, and it will all be easier the first time. These comments have got to stop.
If you do make the mistake – you are to apologise to yourself and aim for better… As it would be if you were apologising to anyone else out there.
An Instragram account – thesmallseed – has got some good material for making it easier, and less of a trial, with fun challenges to do over the 18 days. And they look good.
You should check them out – also join me on the challenge – Less stopping and more picking up habits!
Let’s get positive!
